Livar Nysted became known around the world when he rowed across the Atlantic Ocean in a rowing boat with three other people. Together they set a world record and were included in the Guinness Book of Records.

It is the successful Danish architectural company, Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), that has designed the education centre. The centre will be located in the outskirts of Tórshavn and will provide great views of the capital.

The Faroe Islands have also been included in the white list of flag states meeting the criteria for low risk ships. It is the Paris Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control (Paris MoU) which administers and publishes this list. Achieving inclusion on the white list is very important for the future of the shipping industry in the Faroe Islands. Before the recent changes, the Faroe Islands were on the grey list.
