According to Højgaard, there are several reasons why the Faroe Islands are an exceptional travel destination.

The Minister of Fisheries, Jacob Vestergaard, is in charge of dividing the quota. Only purse seiner vessels have been allowed to fish for mackerel in the past, so the change to extend the quota to other vessel classes will lead to a more inclusive, and more dispersed, quota.

In spite of the recent referendum result, the Faroese government is crafting its social care and schools policies on the assumption that the country is going to be divided in this way. The government intends to devolve responsibility for these policy areas to the regional level within the next few years.
